TIMOTHY RICHARDS

Bespoke Commissions Est.1988

SCROLL DOWN

TIMOTHY RICHARDS

Bespoke Commissions Est.1988

Timothy Richards has been making Architectural Sculptures for the last quarter of a century.

Now in his eighth workshop he remains the only person living to have developed such work. The origins of this quality of plasterwork date back to the Fouquet’s who worked in Paris between 1780 and 1830. Tim has built a network of collectors in America and England over a quarter of a century.

Education remains at the heart of Tim’s models. They will stand the test of time. Over 150 commissions have been completed in 25 years of business.

See our full range of models available to order on our UK and US store sites. We also make a range of classically inspired interior design pieces www.modernsouvenir.com

I commissioned Timothy to build this model of my former family home because if I didn’t, all knowledge and interest in it would have been lost forever. Tim’s attention to detail and accuracy was extraordinary. He even dug out 19th century insurance estimates, from an architectural archive, to repair the damage to the house after a major fire. This demonstrates his absolute commitment to getting it right.

Museum and Exhibition MODEls

While I cannot thank Palladio in person for his drawings, I can and must thank Timothy Richards, who has produced the beautiful plaster models which so wonderfully bring into the exhibition the actual buildings that Palladio and his American disciples built. Tim’s models combine exactitude with true artistry and help illustrate the American legacy superbly.

Models for Architects

Models for Architects

The quality of the detail is fundamental to their power, as is the material and sensitivity of modelling. The people who build the models must know something of the architecture.

LE BELLE EPOC - HARRODS

The models provide a direct line between architect and building. They promote a reconnection with the humanity of architecture.
— Professor of Urban Design, Associate Director of Research: Lancaster Institute for the Contemporary Arts Lancaster University

The models stand alone as academic artefacts and welcome scrutiny. The accuracy is very important. They are built to scale but not of a scale. Those who commission do so for different reasons to those involved with the building industry; from creating an object for inheritance to sculptural record which in

itself is an artwork, standing on the outer limits of what is commonly understood as an architectural model.'
